LOS ANGELES , August 25, 2011 () – Toronto-based wood panel manufacturer Norbord has completed the final phase of a $25 million investment program at its Norbord Europe site in Cowie, Scotland.

The latest phase of the program has improved and extended the plant's particleboard operations and replaced a forming station and pre-press components, Wood Based Panels International reported on Aug. 24.

Karl Morris, managing director of Norbord Europe, said the installation of a state-of-the-art continuous press had already allowed the company to grow its market share in flooring and other construction-related products.

Production continued 24/7 at the site while the forming stations were replaced and the new forming bins installed, he added.

Morris said the upgrade had reduced manufacturing costs while increasing production capacity by 10%.
