U.K.'s WRAP appoints sustainability experts Alan Knight and Alison Austin as non-executive directors, replacing Tim Sweeney and Tony Elmer who are due to retire

Sustainability experts Alan Knight OBE and Alison Austin OBE have been appointed as non-executive directors at WRAP, replacing Tim Sweeney and Tony Elmer who are both due to retire later this year.
Alan Knight has nearly 20 years' experience of working with global and national organisations, advising them at board level on global sustainable development issues which affect business, society and individuals.
Alison Austin has 18 years’ environment and sustainability experience with Sainsbury’s as well as providing independent sustainability consultancy to major FTSE 100 companies.
Talking about the new appointments, Peter Stone, chairman, said: “WRAP has ambitious plans. Alan and Alison’s unrivalled experience will help these plans evolve and provide insight, challenge and support to our work. They will have direct input into increasing resource efficiency in the UK to deliver economic and environmental benefits.”
They will attend their first Board meeting in September and will be formally appointed at WRAP’s AGM in November.
Tim Sweeney, who was also Deputy Chairman, and Tony Elmer both joined the Board in 2001.
Commenting on their contribution, Peter Stone, said: “Tim and Tony have made outstanding contributions to Board discussions and the development of WRAP. Tim’s business acumen has helped ensure WRAP always delivered best value, and Tony’s extensive retail expertise helped shape important initiatives such as the Courtauld Commitment. I’m immensely grateful for their long service.”
