BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Michigan , March 12, 2010 (press release) –
Pulte Homes, Inc. (NYSE: PHM - News) has been recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the world’s most admired companies in 2010, placing two of its operations, Pulte Homes and Centex, among the Top Five companies in the homebuilder category. Pulte Homes was second in the annual Fortune rankings, up from No. 4 last year, while Centex – which merged with Pulte Homes, Inc. last summer – ranked No. 5.

Companies in a variety of industries were judged by the editors of Fortune on nine criteria: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services and global competitiveness. Among the nine criteria, Pulte Homes ranked first in the homebuilding industry in social responsibility.

“We’re very pleased with this recognition from the editors of Fortune magazine, one of the world’s leading business publications,” said Richard J. Dugas, Jr. president and CEO of Pulte Homes, Inc. “Placing both Pulte Homes and Centex in the Top Five is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all our employees and trade partners across the country. Working for Pulte, they build quality homes filled with innovative features people want and value they demand.

“The rankings also validate why the strategic merger with Centex was so attractive to us last year,” Dugas added. “The Centex brand strongly complements both Pulte Homes and our third brand, Del Webb. The Pulte product lineup has expanded to attract homebuyers at whatever stage in life they may be in – whether a first-time homeowner, move-up buyer or person interested in an active adult lifestyle.”

Details on the above rankings can be found at Fortune.com or in the March 22, 2010 issue of the magazine.
