LOS ANGELES , September 14, 2009 () – The Port of Montreal is getting as much as C$9M in federal stimulus funding toward the construction of a common entry and exit portal for trucks, The Montreal Gazette reported Sept. 8.

The money is intended to cover half the estimated cost of building the portal, which is aimed at improving truck traffic and logistics.

Sylvie Vachon, the Montreal Port Authority’s CEO, said the project would help the port stay competitive while reducing its environmental footprint by cutting down truck wait times.
