Fiberweb raises prices on its Typar HouseWrap products due to climbing oil prices

Fiberweb’s Typar® HouseWrap™ & Construction Products Group announces an increase in selling prices of 9.3% effective November 1, 2007. This increase applies to all Typar HouseWrap Products sold in North America. The price action is necessary due to substantial increases in Polypropylene resin from suppliers in recent months placing extreme cost pressure on the business.
This will be the first price increase since late 2005 and can be attributed to the persistent surge in oil prices (more than 21%) since Fiberweb’s last increase. “Over the last 2 years, Fiberweb has implemented numerous supply and manufacturing programs to buffer our customers from this unprecedented rise in hydrocarbon feedstocks, a key component in our raw materials, but we are no longer able to protect our valuable relationships and maintain a viable business” stated Jim Briggs, Sr. Business Director for Fiberweb’s HouseWrap and Construction Products Group in the Americas. Polypropylene resin prices have seen dramatic increases over the last several months and are projected to increase further in the next few months as well. Briggs added “Fiberweb has been proud to offer superior performing housewrap and accessories at competitive prices for many years, but the current situation forced upon us by our material suppliers requires this immediate action. It is our hope that hydrocarbon feedstocks will stabilize in the future.” Typar continues to be a leader in the building envelope market with its Typar® HouseWrap™ and recent technical innovations such as Typar® MetroWrap™ and Typar® StormWrap™.
