BRUEHL, Germany , May 26, 2014 (press release) – MAUSER Group, a worldwide leading company in industrial packaging, has been recognized with the “PackTheFuture” Award 2014 for its recently introduced InfinityTM plastic drum series. Comprised from high quality recycled plastic material, the MAUSER Infinity SeriesTM has been awarded in the category “Ecodesign” as an innovation that is environmentally friendly throughout the product’s entire lifecycle.

During Interpack 2014 in Düsseldorf, Germany, MAUSER Group has been awarded for its InfinityTM plastic drum series the PackTheFuture – Sustainable Plastic Packaging Award 2014. Out of almost fifty entries, an independent jury granted the newly established award to the MAUSER Infinity SeriesTM based on MAUSER’s comprehensive efforts to close the material circuit for industrial packaging.

“We are proud to be among the winners of this inaugural PackTheFuture award and extremely happy about the recognition we received for our efforts in closing the life cycle in industrial packaging,” states Klaus Peter Schmidt, Head of Product Development and Sustainability Management at MAUSER. “At MAUSER, innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.”

MAUSER’s new Infinity SeriesTM of plastic drums produced from post-consumer resin (PCR) plastic materials is covers the open top drum design O-Top® from 30 l up to 220 l capacity and the 220 l capacity tight head drum L-Ring PLUS®.

The PackTheFuture 2014 Innovation Book honors the new MAUSER Infinity SeriesTM to ‘… close the material circuit for industrial packaging approved for hazardous goods. (…) From the new production, across the retrieval, cleaning and reprocessing and up to the material recycling, this product approach covers the different levels of resource efficiency comprehensively – reduce, reuse, recycle. The extent of this process and the consequence of the implementation is new – especially since this approach could be realized in the technically and regulatory demanding segment of the UN approved dangerous goods packaging.’

The new PackTheFuture Award is based on an initiative of IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e.V. (the German Association for Plastics Packaging and Films) and ELIPSO, the French Plastic and Flexible Packaging Association. PackTheFuture 2014 was established to recognize and honor the innovative and creative potential of plastic packaging.
