DETROIT , May 26, 2014 (Plastics News (CBNB Abstracts)) – It is anticipated that around 14 bn pounds of new PE capacity will be available in North America by 2018, the excess of which will be exported, resulting in a decrease in PE prices. Demand of PE from the pipe and profile market is forecasted to grown an average of over 5%/y in 2013-2018, while growth in rotomolding, injection moulding and film and sheet is seen at about 4.5%. Global PE demand is expected to be over 224 bn pounds by 2018. The dynamics of the PP market will change due to new supplies of propylene monomer from PDH technology.
