On May 13th, PackTheFuture 2014, the Sustainable Plastic Packaging Award at the Interpack exhibition in Düsseldorf, has honoured Global Closure Systems for its innovation: Parachute Closure.
PackTheFuture 2014 is a European competition co-launched by France and Germany in order to promote creativity and innovation in the sector of sustainable plastic and flexible packaging. Parachute closure, from Global Closure Systems, has been awarded in the EcoDesign category as “an innovation that is environmentally friendly throughout the product’s entire life cycle, from the choice of raw materials, production methods, transport, and functionality through to the end of life".
Genesis of Parachute Concept sounds like evidence. There are many lightweight closures on the market which are all looking the same: thin walls, small and slim line. Whilst they offer a low carbon foot print, they harm brands.
Parachute is a new concept of flip top closure that softens the landing for brands while they strive to lightweight their packs. Designed by GCS, the lid portion of the closure perfectly matches the bottle design and shape. The base part of the closure has a unique clip design and then reduces angle neck finish to be light weighted by incorporating the patented “feather-snap” system. Savings can be as much as 75%.
With Parachute, GCS offers an effective, innovative, attractive and sustainable closure solution for the Personal Care, Food, and Household markets.
