Sonae Industria, SGPS, SA announces that its subsidiary company, Tafisa – Tableros de Fibras SA, has announced its intention to enter into negotiations with employees and Trade Unions regarding the planned closure of its plant located in Pontecaldelas (Spain).
Pontecaldelas currently employs 60 people and has an annual production capacity of 4,000,000 m2 of laminate flooring. It is Sonae Industria’s intention to continue to supply laminate flooring products to its existing customer base.
The decision to enter into these negotiations is due to the continuous losses that are being incurred by this operation, mostly driven by the low level of market demand for flooring. This is consistent with Sonae Indústria’s stated strategy of reducing its industrial footprint and concentrating production in its more efficient and profitable plants.
