Nearly 1,000 lbs. of copper wiring worth an estimated US$6,000 stolen from an IP location in Augusta, Georgia; investigation continuing, with no arrests made so far

AUGUSTA, Georgia , April 5, 2014 (Augusta Chronicle) – A large amount of copper wiring was stolen from an Augusta business between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to a Richmond County incident report.

International Paper, located at 4278 Mike Padgett Hwy, had nearly 1,000 pounds of copper wiring stripped of its protective covering and taken from the back of the plant. The wiring is estimated to have a $6,000 value, according to the report.

A golf cart was also stolen from the plant. The golf cart was later located with pieces of copper in the bed area, along with bolt cutters nearby, the report said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
