News: Brazil-based Bolt Energias plans to focus on building the 150MW UTE Campo Grande biomass thermoelectric power plant (TPP) in the Brazilian state of Bahia in 2014. The plant, entailing an investment of BRL750mn (US$313.3mn), will use eucalyptus wood chips as its fuel. Bolt Energias controls a 75% stake in the project, while Germany-based Steag holds the remainder. Despite the plan to focus on the 150MW plant, Bolt Energias has not denied intentions to participate in other power auctions for biomass projects, gas-fired TPPs and hydropower plants in 2014. However, the company's participation will depend on financing as well as an engineering, procurement and construction agreement for the Campo Grande project.
