The BSTI (Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution) filed two cases in the court today against two paper mills owned by the TK Group, one of the country's leading entrepreneurs, for producing and marketing sub-standard newsprint and white print.
The state-owned standardisation and testing agency has also filed cases against the Ehsan Steel Re-rolling Mills (ESRM) for producing sub-standard iron rods and some other enterprises.
Assistant Director (AD) of BSTI Chittagong region KM Hanif in his case filed with Chittagong Chief Judicial Magistrate's court alleged that two paper producing mills of the TK Group have been producing and marketing paper which stands unfit according to the BSTI standards.
They are also liable for not getting their licences renewed by the BSTI office. TK Chemical Complex Ltd produces white print and MAF News Print Mill of the same Group produces newsprint.
