Construction on a wood pellet exporting facility at North Carolina’s Port of Wilmington is scheduled to begin this September, but that date may change if necessary, said North Carolina Dept. of Transportation Secretary Tony Tata, the
Star News reported on Jan. 27.
While touring the site for the facility on Jan. 27, Governor Pat McCrory said the new export could boost the port’s capacity by almost 5%.
The wood pellet exporting facility, which will be used to ship wood pellets to Europe, is the result of an agreement between Enviva Holdings LP and port officials.
