United States Patent no. 8,637,746, issued on Jan. 28, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).
"Maize variety hybrid X18A643" was invented by Terry R. Colbert (Fort Branch, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated X18A643 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X18A643 with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X18A643 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X18A643, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X18A643. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X18A643."
The patent was filed on May 25, 2010, under Application No. 12/786,526.
