Meat (excluding poultry) and buckwheat were led the food sector in Russia by rate production growth in 2013.
Meat and offal production jumped 24.5% to 1.7 million tonnes and buckwheat production grew 15.2% to 338,000 tonnes.
The Russian Statistics Agency said poultry production increased 4.2% to 3.5 million tonnes. There was a 5.7% increase for canned meat to 624 million cans and an 8.2% rise for canned meat and cereals to 102 million cans.
Russia produced 3.7 million tonnes of fish and fish products, including canned fish, up 1.5%, 5.3 million tonnes of processed milk, also up 1.5%, and 222,000 tonnes of butter, up 2.9%. Fruit and vegetable juice production increased 1.6% to 2.6 billion cans and canned vegetables and mushrooms increased 4.2% to 827 million cans. Oat production climbed 2.6% to 51,600 tonnes.
Production fell 1.5% to 9.1 million tonnes of wheat flour, 2.6% to 6.3 million tonnes of bread and baked products, 8.5% to 3.3 million tonnes of sunflower oil and 3.8% to 1.5 million tonnes of sausage.
