Authorities investigating an alleged timber scam in northwestern Pennsylvania have arrested one man and are seeking his business partner.
State police say the men sold logging rights to properties they didn't own or have permission to sell. The contracts for land in Crawford and Venango counties allegedly totaled more than $310,000.
Police charged 34-year-old David Kapellusch of Titusville with offenses including theft by deception and forgery. He's being held in the Venango County Prison, unable to post bail since his Dec. 20 arraignment. No lawyer was listed for him in court records.
Police are searching for 49-year-old Steven Marchand of Titusville. He also faces charges of theft by deception, forgery and other counts.
No phone number could be found for Marchand.
