Smurfit Kappa’s commitment to sustainability evident in PPI nominations
Smurfit Kappa, one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of paper-based packaging products with operations in Europe and the Americas, has received nine nominations for awards across six categories for the 2013 Pulp & Paper International (‘PPI’) Awards. Multiple nominations in more than one category reinforce the Group’s position as a leading player in the global paper-based packaging sector.
Gary McGann, Group Chief Executive Officer commented on the nominations: “I am very proud of all Smurfit Kappa nominees in this year’s PPI awards. These particular nominations demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in our interaction with customers, suppliers, employees, communities and the wider environment. A culture of sustainability is promoted across all of our operations and these nominations reaffirm the commitment shown by our employees around the world.”
PPI Awards
Launched in 2009, the PPI Awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognizing the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. The 2013 winners will be announced in December.
