Czech Republic-based case goods importer Global Home S.R.O. plans to expand into the U.S. market and begin shipping into the country by the fourth quarter, as well as possibly selling lower- and middle-priced dining and bedroom furniture into North America this year, Furniture Today reported June 3.
The company offers furniture primarily in the veneered groups, such as oak, ash, cherry and walnut veneers, along with solid wood ranges in acacia and rubberwood.
Global Home is already supplying furniture to markets in the U.K., Australia and New England, and it ships roughly US$50 million-worth of product annually, said CEO Otto de Jager, Furniture Today reported.
In its push to enter the U.S. market, Global Home has named John Routh director of sales for North America, citing his 25 years of experience in sourcing wood products from Asia, including Vietnam and China, Furniture Today reported.
Routh has recently been meeting with possible U.S. customers and is in the process of hiring salespeople for the line.
Global Home works with about 15 factories in Vietnam, where Routh will be based with the company’s international design team and quality control staff, de Jager said.
