Rapak’s Romeoville-Illinois facility has earned the prestigious Safe Quality Food (SQF-2000) level-2 certification, for following Food Safety Fundamentals and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety that identifies chemical, biological and physical hazards in production processes causing products to be unsafe. HACCP standards have been increasingly applied to the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries as a practical approach to managing risks, and health hazards.
While SQF’s 1000 is a standard for primary producers, SQF 2000 is an approved Global Food Safety Initiative protocol, which has been specifically designed to assess food manufacturers, retailers, agents and exporters. The certification involves annual auditing performed by third party auditors. The SQF 2000 Level 2 audit process took 9 months to complete with the engaged involvement of over 30 Rapak Team members.
This certification compliments Rapak’s commitment and proactive approach to supplying safe products to our customers. Rapak will be actively pursuing a SQF Level 3 certification in the near future.
