According to the latest NRN-MillerPulse survey, U.S. restaurant industry same-store sales in March rose 4.2%, compared with a 4.3% gain in February, Nation’s Restaurant News reported April 17.
However, according to the survey, operator outlook improved to its highest level as restaurant operators expect a strong April.
Quick-service restaurants hit an all-time survey high with a 6.9% increase, compared with the previous record of 6% set in the previous month. Full-service restaurants reported a 1.2% gain in same-store sales in March compared with a 2.3% gain in February. Fine-dining brands rose 5.6%, while casual-dining brands increased 0.4%.
According to the survey, 32% of all operators surveyed expect sales to be better in April than they were in March.
