The new Canyon County human resources director wants the agency to store electronic copies rather than paper in a move that has already been done by the prosecuting attorney's office and sheriff's office.
Jeannine Eiband tells the Idaho Press-Tribune that an electronic system is more secure and saves space and money because it reduces the need for filing cabinets, office space and office supplies.
Eiband says she wants to make sure people without computer skills or a computer can still apply for county jobs. She says their applications will be scanned and stored electronically.
She says eventually she would like to have a computer in the human resources office or courthouse where applicants could search the county website for jobs.
