China's Prime Minister Wen Jiabao announced that the country intends to up its power production from non-fossil fuel sources to 11.4% by 2015, from 8.4% in 2010, Bloomberg reported Mon., Jan. 16. China plans to look to renewable sources, natural gas, and nuclear power, the prime minister said at an Abu Dhabi's energy conference.
Calling nuclear energy safe and reliable, the prime minister said China would also collaborate closely with other countries toward worldwide sustainability. They are also planning to cut CO2 emissions by 17% by 2015.
