Styrolution has nominated a rollover from its November price for general-purpose grade polystyrene, Platts reported Dec. 5.
Prices for GPPS at the end of last month settled at €1,475-€1,485 per tonne (US$1,983-$1,996/tonne) free delivered Germany. Meanwhile, high-impact PS settled at €1,605-€1,615/tonne FD Germany, Platts reported.
The Frankfurt, Germany-based company noted that the prices were effective Dec. 1
A source close to the company told Platts that the rollover reflected price movement of the feedstock styrene monomer.
Platts also reported that on Dec. 2, Netherlands-based Synbra Holding bv and Shell Chemicals Ltd. closed their December styrene monomer contract prices at €1,094/tonne, up €6/tonne month-over-month. Both Styrolution and U.K.-based Synthomer reportedly closed December contracts at the same price, but neither company confirmed the settlement.
Platts reported that Styrolution expects demand for PS to remain lackluster. A source told Platts that December and January demand would be impacted by the holidays.
