TransCore's Canadian Freight Index recorded 19% year-over-year increase in freight movement on spot market in October; last month also saw highest same-month freight volume since October 2005

PORTLAND, Oregon , November 23, 2011 (press release) – TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index that monitors freight movement on the spot market saw a 19 percent increase year-over-year in October 2011 although the month-over-month comparison dropped five percent.

October 2011 recorded the highest same month freight volume since October 2005. While October levels were down from the previous month, volume exceeded nine of the 12 months of 2010 and was the seventh highest spot market freight volume this year.

Equipment postings in October were down slightly, 2 percent behind September volume. Capacity was 8 percent below recorded levels for October 2010.

The equipment-to-loads remained largely unchanged from September.
