Production at an MDF/HDF mill in Orla, Poland, run by Swedspan has resumed production after a four-day closure, German industry news service Euwid reported on Nov. 23.
The mill pressed its first board in late July 2011 and is still in the start-up phase.
The stoppage began on Nov. 7 following a request from the regional environmental agency in Bialystok. The agency carried out an investigation on pollution in the Biala River, which runs by the mill, on Nov. 2, after farmers complained they had found wood fibers and terpenes in the river.
Swedspan said it found no contamination above applicable limits in its analyses, and ruled out any direct connection to the start-up of thin MDF production.
