Sixty-two percent of mobile phone users would be willing to make purchases via mobile phone if special deals are offered, an increase from the 32% of mobile phone users who reported the same last year, according to a survey of 847 mobile phone owners by the Mobile Marketing Association and mobile technology provider Sybase 365, Internet Retailer reported on Nov. 11.
According to the survey, 38% of mobile phone owners would be willing to use a mobile device in order to locate a store, while 34% would be willing to use a mobile device in order to do a price comparison. 28% of mobile phone owners would be willing to use a mobile device in order research coupons and other deals, while 27% would be willing to use a mobile device in order to find a review of a product.
Michael Becker, the managing director for North America at the Mobile Marketing Assn., says that the results provide “a clear indication that merchants ignore the mobile commerce wave at their own risk.”
