North Carolina grocery chain Bottom Dollar Food to open 14 stores in Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio, markets; company has nearly 50 stores in five states

The North Carolina-based discount grocery chain Bottom Dollar Food is making plans to enter the Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Ohio markets with 14 stores.
The company says it hopes to open most of the stores early next year with three near Youngstown and the others in the Pittsburgh suburbs. Confirmed Pittsburgh-area locations include Ambridge, Baldwin, Bridgeville, Butler, Carnegie, Castle Shannon, McKeesport and Penn Hills.
The chain specializes in smaller so-called limited assortment stores like Aldi and Save-A-Lot, which carry many private brands and some national brands.
The chain based in Salisbury, N.C. entered the Philadelphia market last year and has nearly 50 stores in North Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
