Gietz launches its new ROFO 450 ECO press with next generation Gietz machine user interface. The machine focuses on providing a compact and economic solution for label printers and converters from small to large job runs. With this Gietz follows on with its successful ROFO 450 series. The ROFO 450 ECO is specifically developed as a core model for narrow web embellishment processes of printed and non-printed web substrates. This makes it the perfect solution for the fundamentals of label production and packaging printing. The ROFO 450 ECO is designed to process pressure sensitive materials (adhesive labelstock), paper, cardboard, plastic film and composite substrates. History of the ROFO 450 series The Gietz ROFO 450 hot foil stamping machine series debuted in 2015 at the Label Expo in Brussels. The high-performance flatbed unit was marketed to the high-end customer aiming for a sophisticated and comprehensive hot foil stamping solution. Later the ROFO 450 PLUS was added to the series, being able to present even more competitive output results. On the contrary, the newly developed ROFO 450 ECO targets print converters and label manufacturers looking for a compact solution, that meets 90% the markets need. It is likewise a good starting point for companies looking to enter the market. What makes the ROFO 450 ECO perfect for label production and packaging printing? The ROFO 450 ECO provides reliable hot foil stamping results, catering the needs of label producers and print converters, who value quality first. For working with small and large job runs the ROFO 450 ECO is an economic webfed flatbed hot foil stamping solution. At the same time, the machine impresses user with its operator friendliness, performance, and state-of-the-art-hot foil stamping technology. The unit can be supplied for incorporation into all current and established narrow web printing / converting / finishing machines or alternatively with its own substrate web unwind device and rewind device to be run as a stand-alone finishing system. Supplying high-performance machines The press allows for speeds of up to 18‘000 strokes/hour or up to 120 m/min with a pressure of up to 100 metric tons /110 US tons. The large stamping surface of 430 x 610 / 16.9“ x 24“ allows for a huge range of application possibilities, coping 1:1 with the print repeat. The press features a dynamic foil web transport for up to 2 foil feeds. The 90 degrees rotating foiling unit allows for the foils to be run along with or transverse to the substrate web running direction. The friction un- and rewinders allow the use of single or multiple webs and thus offer maximum application flexibility. Proven Gietz flat stamping principle The pairing of hot foil and substrate is effected by the flat-flat stamping principle. A cam-controlled platen press by means of flat stamping dies allows a flexible and versatile application range, a minimal consumption of foil and the use of various stamping tools (engraved, etched, combination dies). The stamping principle allows reliable hot foil stamping, blind embossing, and combination of foil stamping and embossing in one pass. For decades now, Gietz has concentrated on the technology fields of hot foil stamping, embossing and hologram transfer. The Gietz flatbed technology was first and foremost developed for the hot foil application process. Ergonomic and optimized design to reduce job setup time to a minimum The user-friendly design of the machine makes set-up and change over straightforward. The setting of dies and counterparts is easy, without any disconnection of the substrate web. Perfect make-ready possibilities are accessible underneath the counter plate. The changing of foils is user-friendly and handled conveniently on top of the machine. Next generation Gietz machine user interface unlocks new possibilities The newly developed interface features a touch optimized screen with self-explaining icons and controls. Higher security and easy learning trough context-sensitive real time help is available. The Intuitive instructions for hands on training, can reduce familiarization time for new operators. If requested, a quick remote support by the Gietz Service Helpdesk is possible. The next generation user interface even enables Gietz to move with times in the digitalisation age. Soon new possibilities can be unlocked in connection with Internet of Things as well as Industry 4.0 connectivity trough the help of cloud technology. Already accepted in the industry The Gietz ROFO 450 ECO has already been successfully installed and is running on customer site. Even before its official launch the press has been sold several times, proving a good product-market-fit and acceptability in the industry.
