When this year’s Audie Awards, the most important audiobook accolades in the U.S., were presented in New York on Monday evening, the English-language audiobook publishers from Penguin Random House and the Spanish-language Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial had a total of seven reasons to celebrate. First and foremost, “Surrender,” the autobiography of U2 singer Bono, who also read the audiobook himself, was named “Audiobook of the Year.” And Michelle Obama can add another Audie Award to her shelf, this time for “The Light We Carry,” which she, too, read herself. And the judges chose “Someone Elseʼs Shoes” by Jojo Moyes (Penguin Audio) as the best audiobook from the U.K.

The Audie Awards are presented annually in 27 categories by the Audio Publishers Association (APA). Founded in 1986, the APA is a trade association that promotes the common commercial interests of audio publishers. The association comprises audio publishers and companies dedicated to the production, distribution and sale of audiobooks and other audio products.
