The web-to-print leader boosts its dedicated roll-to-roll printing department by installing two new Durst P5 350 HS. After thorough testing, Pixartprinting - a Cimpress Company - is strengthening its roll-to-roll department by focusing on Durst's P5 technology. Specifically, the systems chosen by Italy's leading online print shop are two P5 350 hybrid printers in the high-speed version, which achieve three times the productivity of the technology currently in use. Pixartprinting will use the new Durst printers to print exclusively roll materials. "This is a particularly important installation for us for two reasons," explains Alberto Bassanello, Italy sales director for Durst Group. "On the one hand, because, as known to industry operators, Pixartprinting performs severe and challenging tests to carefully select technologies, pushing them to maximum performance. On the other hand, because our hybrid machine could achieve in these tests the best results compared to other pure roll-to-roll systems examined by the web-to-print leader." Among the performances that distinguished the P5 350 HS in the evaluation process are the excellent print quality, productivity over 300 sqm/h, and fast material change, thanks to the multiroll function that allows new rolls to be loaded while the machine is already in use. This gives the system great versatility and maximum production efficiency. Another distinguishing feature of the Durst P5 350 HS is the ability to configure up to a maximum of nine colors, including light colors, white and varnish for multi-layer printing and special applications such as "Day & Night," "In & Out" effects and up to 12 layers of embossing. In addition, LED inks developed by Durst for the P5 platform include Roll LED ink and the new POP Flexible LED hybrid, featuring an exceptional color gamut. "The solution offered by Durst's new technology," comments Alessio Piazzetta, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Pixartprinting, "allows us to further optimize production times with clear cost advantages that we pass on to customers with even more affordable prices. Another aspect of particular note is the reduction in material waste during roll loading and unloading that the new Durst technology guarantees: to all intents and purposes a reduction in special waste of several tons per year, is consistent with our goal of increasingly reducing the impact of our production on the environment." The new installations, which enhance Pixartprinting's large-format roll-to-roll department, will be for banner, pvc and vinyl printing, and for applications ranging from advertising banners to wrapping buildings, signage, adhesive pvc for vehicles, window, floor and wall coverings.
