The very first DAF truck has joined the Nicholas Packaging fleet, from Motus Commercials DAF - Halesowen. Nicholas Packaging Ltd of Kingswinford, West Midlands, has received its very first DAF from Motus Commercials Halesowen: the New Generation DAF XG. Specialising in the transportation of plastic and compostable fibre food trays and punnets, this DAF is one of five tractor units on the Nicholas Packaging fleet. The DAF XG FT 480 4x2 has been configured with a series of luxury options, including the DAF digital vision system, Xtra Leather Air Seats, luxury LED interior lighting, DAF infotainment system, and extended catwalk. Lee Nicholas, Director at Nicholas Packaging, explains why they opted for a DAF model this time around, “The release of the New Generation DAF and all it has to offer really interested me. DAF have upped their game to compete with the more premium brands so I felt this was definitely worth exploring. “There are also ongoing vehicle supply issues across the board and, although there were delays, DAF was able to provide us with the new truck that we needed.” Nicholas Packaging took delivery of the vehicle in mid-August and it got straight to work, hitting the road the following Monday. Lee adds, “It’s early days but the driver is impressed with the vehicle so far, and the wider team really likes the look and feel of the New Generation DAF too. We’ll have to see how the vehicle performs in the coming months to see if it really is a great fit for our operation from which we can look ahead to further purchases, but so far things look promising.” Luke Pitt, Truck Sales Executive at Motus Commercials DAF in Halesowen, is equally pleased with the finished product, “The DAF XG is already a high-quality product, but when customers like Lee opt for added extras, it results in something special. It’s been a real pleasure working with Lee from spec to delivery, and I hope that this is the start of a solid relationship for not only new vehicles but also providing support via our workshop with servicing, routine maintenance, and repair too.”
