PAC Global, an international package design and innovation association, with funding supported by Kellogg Europe, a global leader of consumer-packaged goods, is pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship aimed at supporting and promoting inclusive and universal packaging design. Three scholarships will be awarded from 2024 β 2028 to three Universities including California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly), Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). The scholarships are named after the PAC IOU Initiative (Inclusive Opportunities & Universal Design), with a purpose to champion packaging design by everyone, for everyone. A key objective of PAC IOU is to educate and transform the packaging value chain by engaging everyone in the process, to ensure accessibility. The scholarships have been created to support universities at grass roots for driving positive change in packaging design practices. The scholarships provide financial support to one student per year from each institution, commencing in 2024 through 2028 β who can demonstrate their unique approach to innovation and design, focusing on inclusivity and universal design for packaging. "We are privileged to partner with Kellogg on this significant endeavor to advance inclusive and universal packaging design," said James D Downham, CEO of PAC Global. βThe Kellogg purpose is to create a seat at the table for everyone. Since 2021 they have been rolling out their standard cereal boxes throughout Europe and the US with digitally activated NaviLens technology. They are industry leaders, and their efforts speak to the growing demand for inclusive design.β In addition to the financial scholarship support, Kellogg are also sponsoring the 2024 PAC Global Student Design competition. Several international universities from Canada, Germany, Ireland, UK and US have enrolled. PAC Global and Kellogg remain committed to bridging the gap between academia, industry and consumers. By investing in the education and development of future design leaders, they nurture talent and inspire a new generation of packaging leaders who prioritize inclusive, accessible, and universal packaging design.
