Tata Steel CEO: Green H2 Is Answer to Indian Coal Dependence

9/26/2023 - India can reduce its dependence on coal through green hydrogen, Tata Steel chief executive officer and managing director TV Narendran said during a conference, reports Indian news service PTI.  

"The way steel is made is changing and will continue to change further, as the industry is putting up new plants... Availability of hydrogen as a fuel and reductive is the key to reducing dependence on coal," he said, according to PTI. Narendran also said he believes scrap will replace ore as the main steelmaking input.
