Diamond Packaging today announced it has been named Best Performer The Americas in the EcoVadis Sustainability Leadership Awards 2022 dedicated to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Winners were announced during Sustain 2022, the must-attend event for anyone at the intersection of sustainability and procurement, sourcing, and supply chain. The award recognizes companies that are leading the charge in sustainability practices around the globe. The EcoVadis rating methodology covers 21 criteria across four themes of Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. It is based on leading sustainability standards, including the UN Global Compact Principles, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard, the ISO 26000 standard, and the CERES Roadmap, and is supervised by an international scientific committee. Diamond ranked in the top 1% of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis in the category “Manufacture of corrugated paper and paperboard and of containers of paper and paperboard”. Diamond ranked highest in the Environment category, which comprises both operational factors (e.g., energy consumption, waste management) and product stewardship (e.g., product use, customer health and safety). Diamond reported on its industry-leading greenbox sustainability initiative to research, design, and implement packaging solutions that are innovative and more sustainable. The core of the initiative – designs, materials, and methods – represents a comprehensive approach to packaging that minimizes environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
