Port operations restored after 13-day strike The strikes at Canada's West Coast ports have concluded with a tentative agreement between the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Canada on Thursday, July 13. The strikes, which started on July 1, resulted in major disruptions to trade and the transport of goods. International trade impacts The resolution is a significant milestone for international trade, as it will restore the smooth flow of goods through crucial Canada ports. Although some vessels were diverted to the US during the strike and production at the Canada ports has now resumed, it will take some time to regain operational efficiencies due to the backlog created during the 13-day strike.
