Thailand food exports expected to expand in 2014, raise nation's packaging industry revenues, Bangkok Post reports; packaging industry yielded 300B baht from exports, domestic demand in 2013, with export segment of packaging materials reaching 60B baht

BANGKOK , January 8, 2014 (press release) – Thailand food exports are expected to expand in 2014, hence uplifting revenues for the nation's packaging industry as well by 7% in 2013. Thailand's packaging output comprises of food packaging and flexible packaging, such as films and plastics, out of which food packaging is the major contributor. In 2013, Thailand's packaging industry yielded Baht 300 bn from exports and domestic demand. Furthermore, the export segment of packaging materials, chiefly film, plastic and printed materials, accounted Baht 60 bn. It is however opined that on the execution of the Asean Economic Community (AEC), Thai packaging sector could have generated Baht 100 bn.
