LOS ANGELES , July 3, 2012 () – According to an article in Arab News, the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will determine whether drinking cola is permissible for Muslims after a French study found some might contain minuscule traces of alcohol, Bloomberg reported July 3.

According to the Arab News article, academy member Sheikh Mohammed Al-Nujaimi said a religious decree would be issued by the beginning of next year after the Islamic body consults doctors, chemists and other experts on the topic.
