ALEXANDRIA, Virginia , November 13, 2013 () – United States Patent no. 8,581,032, issued on Nov. 12, was assigned to Pioneer Hi Bred International Inc (Johnston, Iowa).

"Maize variety inbred PH13FW" was invented by Russel Miles Pinnisch (Machesney Park, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A novel maize variety designated PH13FW and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprise crossing maize variety PH13FW with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH13FW through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the variety PH13FW or a locus conversion of PH13FW with another maize variety."

The patent was filed on Feb. 23, 2012, under Application No. 13/402,927.
