Recovered paper prices in France up in November for low grades and some medium and high grades, but some ordinary grade price hikes either stagnated or fell again during the month; prices overall expected to be flat to down in December

LOS ANGELES , November 29, 2012 (Industry Intelligence Inc.) –

Prices for recovered paper in France moved up for the low grades and some of the high and medium grades in November, although ordinary grade hikes that mostly took effect at the beginning of the month fell again in some cases, EUWID-Paper reported.

Deinking grades prices that had not increased in October were up slightly in some November transactions, while prices for other medium and higher grades were somewhat higher or remain unchanged, according to recovered paper merchants in France.

In December, recovered paper prices in France are likely to stabilize or even decline slightly, and no further increases are anticipated, according to market participants, reported EUWID-Paper.

Recovered paper demand is robust both on the domestic market in France and for exports, with nearly all of the material collected in November being sold. Mills are in need of supplies, and inventories are staying lean due to tight market conditions, merchants said.

Export demand is being energized by what appears to be a shift in orders from the Far East toward European suppliers; and in Spain, which is a major export market for France, demand also has picked up recently, EUWID-Paper reported.
