Looking to increase brand awareness and drive growth in new markets, Jack in the Box Inc. is expanding its franchise seed program, Nation’s Restaurant News reported Jan. 17.
Under the program, company-operated restaurants are opened in new markets and are eventually sold as packages to experienced franchisees. Earlier this week, the company went into its fourth seed-program with the opening of a unit in Indianapolis.
This spring, a Jack in the Box will be opening in Cincinnati, making that the fifth seed market since the program began in 2010.
The seed program was created following the company’s decision five years ago to move to mostly franchised units from company-operated restaurants.
