(TSX: RON, RON.PR.A), Canada’s largest distributor and retailer of hardware, renovation and gardening products, announced today the construction of a new store in Rivière-des-Prairies which will welcome its first customers in spring 2012. Located at 9200 Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard in the Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles borough of Montreal, the new 23,500-square-foot outlet is owned by Vincent and Simon Legault, third-generation RONA dealer-owners. Their new Centre de rénovation Rivière-des-Prairies, which represents an investment of close to $4 million by the Legault family, will help stimulate the local economy with the creation of some 30 jobs and better serve the needs of consumers in Rivière-des-Prairies.

The new store will be owned and managed by Vincent and Simon Legault, who have been affiliated with RONA for more than 15 years and illustrate the new face of emerging entrepreneurs coming from families of independent retailers. Their father, Jean-Marc Legault, who owns the building, is also co-owner of RONA L’entrepôt in Laval, RONA L’entrepôt in Saint-Eustache, Quincaillerie de la Promenade in Verdun, and Quincaillerie Séguin & Legault in Montreal, a store founded by Vincent's and Simon's grandfather. It's safe to say that in the Legault household, dealing in hardware and home renovation is definitely a family tradition!

"We chose to set up our new store in one of the largest boroughs in Montreal and to capitalize on the expansion currently under way in this community, particularly in the residential and industrial sectors," said Vincent Legault, co-owner of the future store. "By being strategically located east of the new A25 bridge and close to the future Train de L'Est station, we can better serve this rapidly growing area and position ourselves as the destination of choice for everything related to hardware and home renovation. Consumers will have access to the same variety of products found in big-box stores while benefiting from a high level of personalized service typically found in proximity stores."

Covering an area of 23,500 square feet, the store will include an indoor lumberyard with a car service area measuring 5,500 square feet. What's more, the store will offer a selection of some 30,000 different products, including building materials and finishing products. The store will include all the usual departments such as paint, hardware, electrical, tools and seasonal products as well as specialized departments for building materials, plumbing and flooring. In addition, product categories such as lighting fixtures, mouldings, household goods and storage items will also be available.

Included at the new location will be the services of highly-trained Project Guides, who will be able to assist customers every step of the way with the completion of their home renovation projects. Furthermore, RONA will continue to provide suggestions and solutions for indoor living thanks to RONA by Design, renovation and decoration ideas by experts in the field, in an effort to inspire and guide consumers with their projects.

The new Rivière-des-Prairies store will also offer a cutting service, special orders, and a counter dedicated to commercial sales and contractors.
