4/18/2024 - President Joe Biden on Wednesday suggested his administration would move to block the Nippon Steel acquisition of United States Steel Corporation and backed raising tariffs on Chinese-made steel and aluminum. 

Speaking to a union audience at the United Steelworkers headquarters in Pittsburgh Biden said U. S. Steel, as an iconic American company, should remain “totally American,” the Associated Press reported. 

Biden also said he would ask his trade representative to push for tariff increases on steel and aluminum.
