Newly formed Caucus will provide a forum for members, their staffs, and the public to discuss the unique impacts that federal policies have on the U.S. printing industry

PRINTING United Alliance, the most comprehensive member-based printing and graphic arts association in North America, today applauds the formation of the inaugural Congressional Printing Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. This first-of-its-kind bipartisan Caucus will focus on advancing a public policy agenda that benefits and protects America’s printing industry and its rich, diverse, and varied communities.

In the 118th Congress, Representatives Claudia Tenney (R-NY-24), Mark Pocan (D-WI-2), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR-5), and Jared Golden (D-ME-2) will serve as co-chairs representing the U.S. printing industry. ACG Advocacy, the Washington, D.C. lobbying firm representing the Alliance, is in the process of identifying additional Members of Congress that share an interest in the public policy challenges and opportunities in the printing industry.

The Caucus will provide the Alliance with regular opportunities to educate a core group of lawmakers and their staff about the issues, legislation, and regulations that have a potential effect on the printing industry.

“We are pleased that the Committee on House Administration approved the first-ever Congressional Member Organization (CMO) dedicated to, and focused on, the printing industry,” said Ford Bowers, CEO, PRINTING United Alliance. “We look forward to working with the new Congressional Printing Caucus as we shine a spotlight on print’s vital importance to the U.S. economy."

From the Caucus Members
Each of the Congressional Printing Caucus members had the following to say, on the establishment of this important group:

“I’ve owned a small specialty printing shop for more than 35 years,” Rep. Pocan said. “I know firsthand the hard work that goes into running a small business like this. Because of that, I’m glad to help form the bipartisan Congressional Printing Caucus with Reps. Tenney, Golden, and Chavez-DeRemer to help advocate for small printers across the country, serving their own communities’ needs.”

“As the former owner and publisher of the Mid-York Press, a local commercial printing and manufacturing firm, I understand how the importance of print media and its impact on our communities and local businesses,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues in promoting the value of printing and its role in fostering an informed public. Together, we'll work to support the printing industry, and make sure it has a voice here in Congress.”

“Over 3,000 Mainers are employed in the paper and printing industry, which also supports thousands of other jobs across the state. These workers deserve a greater voice, which is why I'm honored to help form and co-chair the inaugural Congressional Printing Caucus. I'm eager to work together with the bipartisan members of this caucus to advocate for the paper and printing industry to ensure that workers from Madawaska to Westbrook have the seat at the table they need to keep their historic industry thriving,” said Rep. Golden.

“I’m excited to serve as a co-chair of the new Congressional Printing Caucus, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to empower professionals in the printing industry,” Chavez-DeRemer said.
