ISSA Submits Comments to EPA on Virucidal Claims for Sanitizers
In comments submitted earlier this month to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ISSA supported the Draft Guidance for the Evaluation of Products for Claims Against Viruses because it would increase the number of sanitizer products that are effective against viruses that threaten pubic health, as well as increase the number of such sanitizer products that have reduced dwell time and possess a preferred environmental, safety, and health profile. ISSA urged EPA to issue the Draft Guidance as final in its present form. Learn more

ISSA Submits Comments to EPA on 1,4-Dioxane Risk Determination
In comments submitted earlier this month to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ISSA raised significant concerns related to the process followed by EPA in issuing its revision to its 1,4-dioxane risk determination and the negative precedent that this course of action would set for the future evaluation of chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act. ISSA urged EPA to withdraw its revised risk determination for 1,4-dioxane. Learn more

IRS Halts Processing of ERTC
U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Danny Werfel ordered the agency to immediately stop processing new claims for the employee retention tax credit (ERTC), CNBC reported. The ERTC, which was created to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, can be worth thousands of dollars per employee. It has sparked a flood of specialist firms falsely promising businesses that they qualify for the complicated tax break. FMC Seeks Supply Chain Input
The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) wants supply chain stakeholders to review and comment on the proposed processes and definitions identified in the Maritime Transportation Data Initiative, according to Supply Chain Dive. Responses are due October 16. Learn more

California Raises Minimum Wage Again
Starting January 1, 2024, all California employers, regardless of size, must pay a minimum wage of at least US$16 per hour, JD Supra reported. The increase came as a result of the state’s Department of Finance declaring that, due to inflation, the minimum wage needed to increase by 3.5 percent. This is after a state-wide increase for all employers to $15.50, effective January 1, 2023. Learn more
