The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to set the import customs duty rate for certain types of semi-bleached or bleached wood pulp from hardwood (code 4703 29 000 1 CN FEA of the EAEU) at 2.5% of the customs value on a permanent basis.

The customs tariff regulation measure under consideration is aimed at supporting manufacturers of base paper used for lining chipboards and fibreboards used in the production of flooring, furniture, as well as materials for interior decoration and other goods, explained the director of the Department customs-tariff and non-tariff regulation of the EEC Vahagn Ghazaryan .

He emphasized that the production of eucalyptus cellulose is not carried out on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union , while, due to its technological features, it is, as a rule, used in the production of base paper. Classification of goods to subheading 4703 29 000 1 of the EAEU Commodity Classification of Foreign Economic Activity is possible only if the authorized body confirms the intended purpose of the imported goods.

The adopted decision will contribute to the development of the pulp and paper industry, will reduce the cost of finished products, improve the economic performance of enterprises involved in the production of base paper in the EAEU countries, and increase the competitiveness of this product in the domestic and foreign markets.

The decision will come into force after 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication.
