The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is pleased to announce the appointment of five new Advisory Members to its Investment Committee. TNC is the world’s leading global environmental organization, working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. TNC focuses its efforts on the interrelated crises of climate change and biodiversity loss through scientific exploration, policy engagement, and fostering innovation. The new Advisory Members join five current Investment Committee Global Board Members. The Investment Committee, established in February 2022, provides strategic oversight of the Office of Investments (OOI), which manages TNC’s multi-billion-dollar endowment and other long-term investment assets. The endowment is a multi-asset class portfolio encompassing traditional investment strategies, such as public equites and fixed income, as well as alternative investments, such as private equity and hedge funds. The OOI strives to employ managers who use Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria to inform investment decisions. The OOI excludes certain investment opportunities from the portfolio when deemed inconsistent with TNC’s mission and values, and proactively pursues high-quality investments with positive environmental benefits. The new Investment Committee Advisory Members: “Our Investment Committee is comprised of a dedicated team of leaders committed to advising the management of TNC's endowment and long-term investment assets in a manner that supports the interests of the organization in achieving its 2030 goals and beyond,” said John Bernstein, TNC Global Board Member, Investment Committee Chairman and Partner at Generation Investment Management. “We are excited to leverage even broader expertise across our Investment Committee through the addition of highly respected Advisory Members, all with specialized investment experience.” The members, who can serve up to three three-year terms, were identified through a rigorous vetting process that included TNC leadership and current Investment Committee Global Board Member input. Office of Investments | The Nature Conservancy TNC has total assets of $9B, of which the Office of Investments is responsible for managing approximately $4B, comprised of endowment and other long-term investments. The purpose of these funds is to support TNC’s global operations and most pressing conservation projects. To learn more, please visit nature.org/investments.
