Despite a more challenging market situation for solid-wood products, Vida's sawmill operations remain strong thanks to efficient and well-invested sawmills and global sales channels. Our need for timber therefore remains high. Vida is Sweden's largest producer of sawn timber products and is now raising the price of timber, which benefits our suppliers. The price trend for forest raw materials has been positive for a long period and Vida is now strengthening its offering by raising its price lists. Vida's timber price lists for normal timber, spruce and pine will be increased by SEK 140/m3fub and the price lists for cubes and small logs by SEK 70/m3fub from 1 June. The price increases apply to Götaland. "Right now, lumber prices are at a very high level. What the timber market will look like in the future is difficult to assess and depends on a variety of factors, such as the general economic situation and the global security situation. The sharp increase in interest rates has a negative impact on construction and it is currently estimated that housing construction will decline by about 50% of housing construction in Sweden this year compared to 2022. What consumption will look like this autumn and winter is difficult to predict, but there are clear signs that there will be a further slowdown," says Jörgen Henriksson, CEO of Vida Skog.
