Svenska skogsplantor, SSP, has invested SEK 14.5 million in a new production line for packing forest seedlings at the Triangle nursery. The investment will contribute to increased delivery quality of the forest plants.

SSP, which is a business area within Sveaskog, has invested SEK 14.5 million in Trekantens nursery in the form of a new production line for packing forest seedlings. The investment is a continuation of last year's investment in a new treatment line against beetle infestations. Over the past two years, a total of SEK 28.5 million has been invested in developing forest plant production in the Triangle. The new packing machine was inaugurated on 12 December and is put into use immediately.

- The investments in a new treatment line and a new production line increase our capacity and contribute to a higher quality of delivery as we get a more efficient production flow and an improved working environment, says Eva Hugosson, site manager of Triangle Plant School.

Streamlining plant flow comes, among other things, through automatic pallet stacking and direct transport to freezer storage.

Forest plants with a focus on the future
The production of good quality forest seedlings is important for forest owners and the forests of the future. In the nursery, refined plants with high growth and specially developed characteristics are grown, optimal for the location and adapted to the climate of the future and thus greater resistance to damage attacks of various kinds.

- Plant quality is central to viable and growing forests in a changing climate. It affects the forest's ability to bind carbon dioxide and the possibility of offering a renewable raw material that can replace fossil products, says Helene Bergström, business area manager Swedish Forest Planters.
