Mosaic Forest Management is pleased to announce a formal agreement with Arrowsmith Cycling Club (ACC) to sanction access to the Hammerfest Trail Network in Errington, BC. Hammerfest is a 91-kilometre network of mountain bike trails located on Mosaic’s private managed forest lands near Englishman River Falls Provincial Park.

The agreement gives ACC formal access to manage, maintain, and recreate in the Hammerfest Trail Network while providing Mosaic with assurance of a high level of conduct among users and a focus on safety. “In entertaining requests for recreational access, Mosaic looks for partners who demonstrate a track record of responsible use and whose activities are consistent with Mosaic’s values of public safety and protecting the environment. Arrowsmith Cycling Club has been building its management capacity and working with our team on a plan and has certainly demonstrated it is such a partner,” said Molly Hudson, Vice President, Sustainability and Chief Forester at Mosaic Forest Management. “We’re delighted that this agreement will provide mountain bikers exceptional access to Hammerfest’s popular trail network.”

ACC is a registered non-profit society affiliated with the International Mountain Bike Association, whose focus includes management and advocacy for the Hammerfest Trail Network. “The agreement with Mosaic Forest Management celebrates the potential of the Hammerfest Trail Network as a showcase for this region,” said Jake Friesen, President of the Arrowsmith Cycling Club. “We’re thrilled that these sanctioned trails will become a part of Vancouver Island’s world-renowned class of single-track mountain bike trails.” Some of the Club’s early activities at Hammerfest will include trail upgrades and signage.

“We are always working to make Parksville the best community it can be, for residents and for visitors,” said Mayor of Parksville, Doug O’Brien. “We’re thrilled that this agreement between Mosaic Forest Management and Arrowsmith Cycling Club will bring such high standards for maintenance and safety to the Hammerfest Trails."

"Our vision is to promote and enhance Parksville Qualicum Beach as a world-renowned, all-season tourism destination, and this agreement between Mosaic Forest Management and Arrowsmith Cycling Club for access to the Hammerfest Trail Network is a fantastic contribution to that goal,” said Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association Executive Director, Blain Sepos.

The Hammerfest Trail Network will continue to host a variety of mountain bike races through the new agreement, including the Island Cup Series races. For more information or to become an ACC member, visit ArrowsmithCyclingClub.com.
