Today marks Mosaic Forest Management’s fourth annual Season of Giving campaign. This year, Mosaic will share $40,000 in support to 40 community and school food programs throughout Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. Funds support organizations that are doing the important work of reaching those in need. “Every month, food banks in BC serve more than 125,000 meals to people in need and that number continues to grow,” said Mosaic’s President and CEO, Rob Gough. "Our annual Season of Giving campaign provides support to organizations that are doing the important work of reaching those in need in coastal communities." Smaller, less accessible communities are especially feeling the effects of food insecurity. “Grocery prices on the smaller islands are far higher than those on Vancouver Island,” said Amanda Smith, Quadra Island Food Bank Volunteer Co-ordinator. “I would like to thank Mosaic for its continuing support through the Season of Giving program. Our goal is to provide nutritious, safe food for all who come to us, and monetary donations are the best way to help as we can often negotiate better prices.” "With the rise in food costs, it's so important to support students' basic food needs,” said Nancy Logan, Principal at Haahuupayak Elementary School in Port Alberni. “Students can only engage in their day and learn when they're well-fed." “We are 100% volunteer run, so donations go right to the people we want to help,” said Kim Metzger, President of Sooke Food Bank Society, which serves both the Sooke and Port Renfrew communities. “These donations are life changing. It’s the difference of whether we will have a key food like cereal to provide or not.” Mosaic is proud to announce this year’s Season of Giving efforts on Giving Tuesday, a global movement that inspires people to give while celebrating generosity. Now in its fourth year, Mosaic's Season of Giving campaign supports local organizations helping to provide access to nutritious food to those in need. Forty organizations will receive support this year, including: ADSS Breakfast Club through Alberni District Secondary School Cowichan Valley School District 79 through Nourish Cowichan Society The Salvation Army - Alberni Valley Corps | Giving Hope Today For information on Mosaic’s community funding opportunities, visit MosaicForests.com/sponsorships-donations. © Copyright 2023 Mosaic Forest Management Corp.
